Love my family!

No Place Better

Nearly every time someone from work finds out that I have 5 children, all of them age 6 and under, they make some comment about how difficult that must be.  The typical conversation might go like this:

Them - "You have 5 children?"
Me - "Yep."
Them - "Wow!  That must be a ton of work.  I can't imagine doing that?"

This usually causes me to pause and consider how difficult it really is to parent this many little ones, and the fact that we volunteered for it, and the fact that it'll be 20 more years before I have any hope of being kid-free.

Then I come home after a long day of work.  I'm instantly assaulted by slobbery kids with their dirty diapers and loud squeals and relentless questions.  And I think, "There is no place I'd rather be right now than right here with my wife and these children."  What a blessing.

Mae the Walker

Mae is walking!  She actually started walking past week while my mom was here.  Saturday she stood up by herself for the first time!  I can't express to you how exciting it is to watch her develop and blossom.

Post-Op Followup

We had our post-operative followup yesterday, Good Friday.  Basically they said he looks great.  We already knew that.  It's not as if I'm not grateful for the "good" evaluation but the trip was pretty typical of every other visit to the hospital, dysfunctional.

All that aside, Jacob is doing great (who needs a thesaurus with adjective skills like that!).

Like a Boss

Tuesday he was flat on his back for ~6 hours, chest sliced open, a machine was breathing for him and pumping all his blood for him.  They patched his heart like a bicycle tire, added some stuff from a corpse, and took out the one item that had kept him alive this long.
